The next Path of Exile 2 update is boosting loot drops and endgame progression

Another Path of Exile 2 update is coming with improved loot drops and faster progression through the Atlas passive tree in the new ARPG.

We might have had multiple major Path of Exile 2 updates in the past two weeks since Dawn of the Hunt arrived to widespread negative feedback, but developer Grinding Gear Games isn’t stopping there. As it looks to keep players happy alongside new seasons for rivals Last Epoch, Torchlight Infinite, and Diablo 4, the ARPG dev has announced another upcoming patch, expected to arrive next week, which is set to tackle lackluster loot drops and speed up the progression through the PoE 2 endgame Atlas passive tree.

We’re just one day out from the last PoE 2 patch notes, yet GGG is already focused on what’s ahead. The next Path of Exile 2 update will introduce “two highly sought-after improvements as well as a flurry of other minor-to-moderate changes.” The first of these focuses on loot drops; the second season of the action RPG has been too stringent when it comes to good rewards, but that’s about to shift across three separate adjustments.

To start with, GGG is looking to reduce “unlucky streaks,” where you get nothing good from several bosses in succession across the campaign, by raising the floor in terms of the quality of their drops. It’s also planning to further upgrade the loot you get from bosses in general, and will also be increasing the rewards earned when you defeat monsters that have been possessed by the new Azmerian Wisps.

There are also the Corrupted Nexuses. A new progression system designed to make the endgame feel more structured and less grindy, they’ve proven too “difficult and time consuming to find.” This results in players climbing the Waystone tiers faster than they can discover and complete Nexuses to upgrade the Atlas passive tree.

With the next patch, the number of Nexuses you need to finish to earn all your Atlas passive points will be lowered, so you’ll be able to more quickly fill out the tree and earn the endgame boosts to suit your preferences. Corrupted Nexuses will also be made more visible in the fog on the Atlas map, so you should have an easier time working out where to go next.

That’s not all that’s planned; GGG says it’s also looking at improved accessibility for pinnacle fights, a reduction in difficulty for Simulacrums, and both increased rewards and lower difficulty spikes from Remnants in Expeditions. The developer says it hopes to release the patch “as soon as we can,” but notes that the Easter weekend and New Zealand public holiday ANZAC Day means it’s unable to set a time yet.
