The InZOI roadmap is already packed, as The Sims rival unveils first free DLC
The InZOI price is confirmed, putting “players over profit” as the new rival to The Sims promises free DLC and updates through early access.
by Ken Allsop · PCGamesNAs its early access launch soars into view, new life game InZOI is setting itself up for a big 2025 with an extensive roadmap of planned updates. In a new livestream from Krafton’s InZOI Studio, game director Hyungjun ‘Kjun’ Kim delivers the long-awaited InZOI price, and reveals a full list of planned updates as he states that the team wants to ensure “no player [is] left behind on our journey toward InZOI’s completion.”
The InZOI release date arrives next week, and Kjun says that the team is eager to get players involved to help shape InZOI into the best life game possible. “As beginners, we will have shortcomings, but we will listen closely, improve continuously, and make completing the game our top priority.” He discusses several of the features the team is working on, such as finishing support for a total of 13 languages, the motion capture tool, the ability to drive around the open world, another city, skyscrapers, and working mirrors. He also teases an automated building system driven by the game’s AI tools.
One of the biggest questions as we close in on release has been the game’s price, and Kjun announces that the game will launch at $39.99. “The more players that participate, the better the game will become,” he explains. “With this in mind, we have internally decided to offer early access at the most reasonable price possible.” The slide states a motto of “Players over profit,” and confirms that the studio will maintain a policy of free DLC and updates until early access ends.
“In order for this promise to mean anything, our development team has to continue consistently,” Kjun remarks. The first major update is planned for May, and will introduce a mod kit using Maya and Blender. It will allow you to adjust your Zois’ weight and muscle, which can also change based on their lifestyle. An adoption system is being introduced alongside expansions on relationships and the Create-a-Zoi tool. Rounding out the first patch are build mode polishing, new furniture and outfits, and the first set of InZOI cheat codes.
International Cat Day lands on Friday August 8, and with it comes the first free DLC, Kucingku, the Cat Island, a new city inspired by Southeast Asia. Update two is likewise set for August, and the feature that jumps out as a fan of games like the Sims is pools and swimming. As someone old enough to remember the uproar when The Sims 4 launched without pools, it’s likely to be on many players’ minds. We’ll also get upgrades for parenting and the city edit mode, freelancer jobs, text message improvements, ghost gameplay, and the AI build mode assistant.
Update three in October brings a very welcome addition to build mode – the ability to manually adjust object sizes. It will also aim to improve the menus for moving home, along with plenty more furniture, Create-a-Zoi updates, and further modding tools. In December, update four lists the Zoi memory system, the ability to move cities, trait-based interactions, indoor temperature measurements, and of course even more outfits and furniture. That’s all we get to see for now, although the image teases a potential fifth update and a second DLC could arrive around March 2026.
InZOI will launch Friday March 28 on Steam in early access, priced at $39.99. You can wishlist it now if you want to be kept up to date with when it becomes available. There’s also a new InZOI demo that’s playable right now, if you simply can’t wait until then.
