The first Monster Hunter Wilds title update adds a gathering hub in early April
Monster Hunter Wilds title update 1 is planned to launch in early April, as Capcom promises a new level of challenges and a place to gather.
by Ken Allsop · PCGamesNWith the launch of Monster Hunter Wilds upon us, Capcom reveals more details about the first title update arriving post-release. The new RPG has already won my heart, but I had a few gripes with the latest entry in the series. Fortunately, two of my biggest issues are already set to be addressed when Monster Hunter Wilds title update 1 arrives. Set to land in early April, it’ll give us a more dedicated social space and ramp up the challenge to new heights.
You can read our Monster Hunter Wilds review for my full thoughts, but the succinct summary is that I’ve really loved my time with Capcom’s successor to World, a game I consider one of the best RPGs of all time. After 90 hours played, I’m far from done with Monster Hunter Wilds. I do have a few minor complaints though – chief among them a lack of a true social hub and the fact that, as a veteran hunter, it didn’t take me too long to reach a point where I felt pretty safe, even when going up against endgame tempered monsters.
Fortunately, it seems Capcom has already considered both issues. We already knew that the first title update would bring the bubble-spouting Mizutsune to the Forbidden Lands, but the developer teases that we’ll also get new ways to put our best Monster Hunter Wilds builds to the test.
“Prepare your gear, and resolve, hunters,” it writes, “Title update 1 will bring with it a monster of formidable strength at a level above tempered. Another challenging monster will also await you.” It’s unclear whether the challenge refers to Mizutsune, a harder version of one of the existing Monster Hunter Wilds monsters, or something altogether new.
World gave us one major new creature with each title update, alongside event quests that presented tougher challenges including ‘arch-tempered’ monster battles. Rise, however, included multiple monsters with each of its title updates, so it’s possible we’ll also see that here. We’ll have to wait for further confirmation to be sure, however.
Perhaps even more exciting is the promise of something closer to the Gathering Hubs of old games. The towns of Wilds act as a social space, but they’re really designed as places to get all your between-hunt work done. In title update 1, Capcom promises “A place to gather,” which it describes as “a new place to meet, communicate, have meals together, and more with other hunters.” Note that you’ll need to complete the main story to access it.
Monster Hunter Wilds title update 1 releases for free in early April. That should give you more than enough time to discover your favorite Monster Hunter Wilds skills and see everything the base version of the game has to offer.
