O2 has issued a stark warning to those who've recently upgraded their smartphones, urging them not to let old devices gather dust. According to the UK network, it's crucial for tech enthusiasts to consider trading in unused gadgets.

Research from Virgin Media O2 indicates that British households could be losing out on £200 by neglecting old phones and laptops. "The average UK home might be missing out on over £200 by sticking old phones and laptops in a cupboard and forgetting they are there," says the latest study.

The value of these electronics diminishes as they lie unused, hence the advice is to trade them in swiftly. "Research from Virgin Media O2 has revealed the average UK household is sat on over £218 worth of unwanted mobile phones, but only one in ten (11%) Brits has traded in a device in the last five years," O2 elaborates.

They add, "Sell your unwanted mobile, laptop or tech as soon as you're done with it. The sooner you sell it, the more money you're likely to get for it."

Not only does this put cash back into your pocket, but it also promotes recycling, benefiting the environment. To find out what your old device could fetch, visit O2's Recycle website, input details like make, model, and condition, and discover its potential value, reports the Mirror.

Here's what some popular phones might be worth:.

- iPhone 11: £88.

- iPhone 13: £158.

- iPhone 14: £209.

- Samsung Galaxy S23: £178.

- Samsung Galaxy S22: £100.

- Google Pixel 8 Pro: £180.

O2 isn't the sole company providing trade-in deals. Numerous other sites, including MusicMagpie, Compare and Recycle, and Mazuma, are also willing to take your old tech off your hands... so it's worth shopping around.

Samsung and Apple will also reduce the price of a new device when you trade in an old one, so these deals are worth exploring too. One thing you absolutely shouldn't do is let those old gadgets gather dust, as you could be missing out on some extra cash.
