In summary

  • Honor Magic 8 confirmed for Q4
  • All Honor flagships predicted to feature 200MP main camera
  • Including Honor Magic V6 foldable

Honor has confirmed when it will be releasing its Magic 8 flagship smartphone series, and there are rumours in the wind that it’ll pack a huge camera upgrade.

Honor CMO Guo Rui has taken to Weibo to confirm that the Honor Magic 8 series will be announced in Q4.

Which, when you get down to it, isn’t the most surprising piece of news. After all, last year’s Honor Magic 7 series was announced at the end of October and launched in November.

If all goes according to plan, then, we’re expecting to see the Honor Magic 8 and the Magic 8 Pro announced some time next month, with the Honor Magic 8 Ultra and Magic 8 Mini arriving some time in early 2026.

Honor going all in on 200MP

Given the brevity of that opening piece of news, we feel obliged to throw you something else Honor related.

News has also emerged, courtesy of leaker Digital Chat Station, that Honor will be equipping all of its forthcoming flagship phones with 200MP main cameras.

That includes all of the aforementioned Magic 8 devices, and also the Honor Magic V6. The latter will be the follow-up to the brilliant Honor Magic V5 foldable, and is expected to launch some time in the middle of 2026.

The Honor Magic 8 Ultra could be quite the machine, with that 200MP main camera also expected to be accompanied by a 200MP periscope telephoto camera.

We liked a lot of what the Honor Magic 7 Pro had to offer, but found its sophisticated camera system to be somewhat hit and miss. The prospect of Honor letting loose with a full Ultra model is an exciting one.
