Samsung Delivers on Its Promise: Galaxy A73 Receives Final Major OS Update
by Kristijan Lucic · Android HeadlinesThe Samsung Galaxy A73 is the latest smartphone that is receiving the company’s Android 16-based One UI 8 update. Following a number of other devices, both flagship and budget ones, the company’s mid-ranger is also getting this update.
The Samsung Galaxy A73 users are now getting Android 16-based One UI 8 update
It is not exactly surprising that the Galaxy A73 users had to wait a bit. Why? Well, this phone is 3.5 years old at this point, so… it was not exactly a first priority for Samsung. Still, it’s nice to see that the update arrived.
Do note that the update started to roll out to several Asian countries first, but it’s quickly spreading to other markets. By the time you see this, the update may even be available in your country.
Even when it comes to your country, however, you may have to wait a bit before it reaches your phone. Why? Well, the update is rolling out in stages, so it will not arrive to everyone at the same time.
The update weighs around 2.5GB
With that being said, this update comes with a firmware version A736BXXUAGYJ1, and it includes the September 2025 Android security patch. The download size for the update is 2.5GB.
Your phone will let you know once the update is available, though you can always check manually, too. Simply head over to your phone’s settings, and navigate to Software update -> Download and install.
Do note that the One UI 8.0 update is the last major Android OS update this phone will get. The Galaxy A73 arrived back in early 2022 with Android 12 on board. Samsung promised four major Android OS updates for the phone, and the company just delivered on that promise.
One UI 8.0 brings a number of visual changes to the table, along with improved security, and some new features too: Now Brief, for example, is not a part of the offering. All the base Android 16 changes by Google are also included.
