This is why iPhone 16e doesn't offer MagSafe, according to Apple

by · Android Headlines

One of the main omissions when it comes to features on the iPhone 16e is MagSafe, and Apple just explained why the phone doesn’t offer it. Many people and reviewers were wondering, so the company decided to react.

Apple explained why the iPhone 16e doesn’t offer MagSafe, after quite a few complaints

Apple said that this omission has nothing to do with its first custom 5G modem. The company says that it opted not to include MagSafe because “most people in the 16e’s target audience exclusively charge their phones by plugging them into a charging cable.”

GSM Arena notes that this statement comes from unnamed “Apple representatives” who were speaking to Daring Fireball’s John Gruber. Those representatives also said that customers who are going to buy the iPhone 16e “tend to not use inductive charging at all.”

While this may be the case, it is still a pretty significant omission, and it’s quite obvious this was a cost-cutting measure. We’re not sure how Apple came to these conclusions, but… they may as well be true.

Despite Apple’s cost-cutting measures, this phone is not cheap

Even though Apple opted for quite a few cost-cutting measures when it comes to this phone, the device is still not exactly cheap. It starts at $599, which is considerably cheaper than the iPhone 16, but it can’t be considered cheap, that’s for sure

Rumors, prior to launch, suggested that the price would rise compared to the iPhone SE 3, but not by this much. It was rumored that the device would cost $499 at most, up from $429, which was the iPhone SE 3’s price. Well, it’s $100 on top of what was rumored.

That is not the only omission that Apple made, not even close. The phone also comes with only a single camera on the back, and it doesn’t have a Dynamic Island but a notch on the front.

The company also made some concessions in terms of camera features and more. Here’s a list of the missing features compared to the iPhone 16.
