iPhone Air 2 Could Finally Feature Two Cameras After User Backlash

by · Android Headlines

Honestly, on the surface, there’s a lot to like about the iPhone Air. It is so incredibly thin but yet packs a punch. However, its price and some of the compromises Apple had to make makes it a hard sell. But the good news is that for the iPhone Air 2, it could come with two cameras.

iPhone Air 2 will get two cameras

According to a post on Weibo by Digital Chat Station, the iPhone Air 2 could correct one of the mistakes Apple made with the first-gen model, by equipping it with two cameras. See, on the first-gen iPhone Air, Apple opted to give it a single camera setup. It is one of the reasons why it’s such a hard phone to recommend to anyone.

In this day and age, most phones come with a dual or triple camera setup, even entry-level models. So, for Apple to exclude it just seemed a little strange. The post on Weibo suggests that we could be looking at dual 48MP setups, with a 48MP main and a 48MP ultra-wide. As Digital Chat Station mentions, a telephoto would be better, but we’ll have to wait and see.

That being said, we have to wonder how Apple will achieve that. The main reason the camera hump on the iPhone Air is so huge is because it houses the major components of the phone. If Apple were to slot in a second camera, it would require a redesign. We’re not sure if Apple is willing to make that investment, especially given the lukewarm reception.

Is the phone even happening?

That being said, we have to question whether or not Apple plans on launching the iPhone Air 2. Sales of the first-gen model have reportedly been lackluster. So much so that we’re hearing rumors that Apple has apparently cancelled production of the handset.

However, a recent report from JP Morgan analysts suggests that Apple could indeed launch a second iPhone Air. Hopefully, this time the company has learned from its mistakes and is listening to its customers. Otherwise, it looks like the iPhone Air series is going to end up where the iPhone “C’ series did, on the forgotten pile.
