Xiaomi 17 Pro Camera Specs, Real-Life Image & Benchmarks Appear Ahead of Launch

by · Android Headlines

Xiaomi recently confirmed its plans to launch a new flagship lineup of phones: the Xiaomi 17 series. What makes the phone more interesting than the company’s past phones is that Xiaomi is slapping a display on the back of the phone alongside the camera module. Speaking of cameras, what can we expect from the new phones? Thanks to a post on Weibo by tipster Digital Chat Station, the Xiaomi 17 Pro camera specs have been revealed.

Xiaomi 17 Pro camera specs

According to the post, the Xiaomi 17 Pro camera specs include a triple camera system. This includes a 50MP main camera with an aperture of f/1.67. It will be accompanied by a 17mm ultrawide angle camera and a 115mm telephoto camera equivalent to 5x optical zoom. All of these cameras will continue Xiaomi’s partnership with Leica.

On paper, the cameras sound pretty normal. However, we expect the same Leica tricks we’ve seen in past Xiaomi phones. We’re talking about camera modes and filters to give photos taken by the Xiaomi 17 Pro a Leica vibe. Interestingly enough, the Pro Max model is expected to feature a different camera setup.

While Xiaomi confirmed its new naming scheme is a nod to Apple, the company isn’t adopting Apple’s iPhone strategy. Typically, the iPhone Pro and Pro Max models share near identical specs, especially with the cameras. The main difference is the size of the display. In this case, the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max could be a different beast from the Xiaomi 17 Pro.

Rear display makes a comeback

We’ve already seen the teaser images that confirm the rear display on the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max. This is something Xiaomi has done with the Xiaomi 11 Ultra in the past. We’re not sure why the company has decided to bring the feature back. However, a new video shared by UniverseIce on X has shown off some of the potential features of the rear display.

This includes using the rear display as a secondary display to show the time and photos. We’ve speculated in the past that users might even be able to use it as a secondary viewfinder. We all know that a phone’s rear cameras are usually more superior than the front-facing ones. However, trying to snap a selfie using the back cameras can be tricky. Having a secondary display will definitely help with framing. How will this look like in real life? An alleged photo of the phone shared on X by Paras Guglani gives us a taste of what’s to come.

Powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5

In addition to the leaked camera specs, it looks like there’s a good chance the Xiaomi 17 Pro could be powered by Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset. A benchmark sighting on Geekbench has revealed that the phone scored 3096 on single-core performance and 9382 on multi-core performance. It has also been revealed that the phone comes with 16GB of RAM and runs Android 16 out of the box.

Other rumored specs include a pretty sizable 6,300mAh battery with support for 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. Either way, we’ll have all the official details later this month. Xiaomi will announce the phone in China, but we’ll have to wait and see if there are plans for a global release.
