Samsung Galaxy S22 series gets March 2025 security update
by Jean Leon · Android HeadlinesEligible Galaxy phones and tablets continue to receive the latest available security update. After rolling it out to its latest flagship phones, Samsung is now sending the security patch to older flagship models. This time, the March 2025 security update is reaching phones in the Galaxy S22 series.
Samsung launched the Galaxy S22 series in February 2022. It was in that lineup that the South Korean giant premiered its minimalist design language. More specifically, the Galaxy S22 Ultra had a radical change of look by arranging the rear camera sensors separately, without an “island” connecting them. On the other hand, the vanilla and Plus S22 models still had a highlight camera module. The Galaxy S22 Ultra was also the brand’s first “Ultra” to support the S Pen, although it didn’t come included (it didn’t even have a dedicated slot for the pen).
The March 2025 security update is reaching the Galaxy S22 series
The March 2025 security update is arriving first for the Galaxy S22 lineup in Europe (S90xBXXSDEYB1) and South Korea (S90xNKSS7EYB3). However, it likely won’t be long before it becomes available for handsets in more regions around the world.
The latest OTA won’t bring any new features to your phone, but it will make it more secure. There are fixes for up to 58 security holes potentially exploitable by attackers. Seven of these fixes are for issues that only affected Samsung hardware/software. The remaining fixes are for vulnerabilities found in Android’s core.
The Galaxy S22 series is eligible to receive the long-awaited One UI 7 update. However, there is no tentative date yet for the Android 15-based firmware’s arrival. Today, Samsung confirmed that the One UI 7 stable rollout will begin on April 7. However, Galaxy S22 devices are not part of the first batch. Sadly, it’s also unknown when Samsung will open the One UI 7 beta program for these phones. Hopefully, the company will offer more details soon.
