Galaxy Z Fold 6 to get useful Pixel features with One UI 7 update
by Kristijan Lucic · Android HeadlinesSummary: Samsung’s One UI 7 update will bring two Pixel features to the Galaxy Z Fold 6. Both of these are features for foldable smartphones, by the way. The ‘Swipe to continue’ feature will make its way to the device and make it easy to continue using the cover screen after you fold the device. The option to auto-hide the taskbar when you’re in apps will also be there. Samsung is giving its users some options.
Samsung’s software for foldables has been praised in the past, but it can still improve. It seems like two features from Google’s Pixel phones are coming to the Galaxy Z Fold 6 with the One UI 7 update.
The Galaxy Z Fold 6 will get two very useful Pixel features with One UI 7 update
The first feature that One UI 7 will deliver is called ‘Swipe to continue’. That is, actually, a feature that Google picked up from OPPO. OPPO’s foldables had it, and it was immensely useful, so Google decided to implement it into its foldables.
In any case, this feature allows you to choose whether you want to continue using the device when you fold it. If this feature is enabled, your cover display will remain mostly dark whne you fold the phone, but you’ll be able to swipe up in order to continue using it. If you don’t, it will power off very soon.
This feels so seamless in actual use, and quite frankly, I missed this feature on every non-OPPO foldable. Samsung will offer you several options when it comes to this feature, actually. You’ll be able to set the display to power on or off as well, without the ‘Swipe to open’ functionality, as you can see below.
The auto-hiding taskbar feature will also be available
The second feature that is coming with One UI 7 is related to the auto-hiding taskbar. There are two options here, ‘Auto hide when apps are opened’ and ‘Stay on screen’.
If you choose the first option, it’ll require a half-swipe from the bottom in order to call upon the taskbar. The second option will, of course, keep the taskbar on the screen at all times.
Both of these features are quite useful, needless to say, so it’s nice to see them coming to the Galaxy Z Fold 6. Samsung may have a very competent software for foldables, but as these two features show, other OEMs do as well.
