Android 16 Update for Galaxy S25 Series Spreads Its Wings—Global Rollout Started
by Kristijan Lucic · Android HeadlinesAndroid 16-based One UI 8 update started to roll out to the Samsung Galaxy S25 series a couple of days ago. That update was limited to South Korea at the time, but now, it has spread its wings.
Global rollout of the Android 16 update for the Galaxy S25 series has commenced
The update is now rolling out in the UK, Germany, and India, based on reports. However, considering that it’s hitting those three countries, chances are that it’s hitting other countries as well. It may as well be available in the US, too, by the time you’re reading this.
This is how Samsung handles updates. It launches in one country first, and then within days it spreads to a ton more countries. Still, this is a staged update, as every other one is, so you may have to be patient. It’s not rolling out to all units at once.
This update also includes the September 2025 Android security patch. The update itself weighs over 500MB, it is reported, though that could vary considerably from one market to the next, it depends.
The update does bring some new features to the table
The update itself does bring some new features to the table. Now Brief is a good example. It offers personalized daily updates on various info, including traffic, reminders, and health insights, as example.
Knox Matrix is also included in the update. It can automatically sign you out of your Samsung Account if a serious threat is detected. Samsung has also improved Secure Wi-Fi and boosted multimodal AI on Galaxy phones.
Some multitasking improvements have also been made, along with various improvements that Google introduced with Android 16. Samsung has also published a release schedule for One UI 8, by the way. The update starts with the Galaxy S25 series, but plenty more devices are listed.
