Samsung Says Galaxy S25 Edge Battery is Fine — Just Don’t Look at the Specs

Samsung‘s executive has decided to defend the Galaxy S25 Edge’s battery life. This comes from Black Gaiser, the director of smartphone product management at Samsung Electronics America. He said what we’ll talk about here during an interview with Tom’s Hardware.

Samsung’s exec defends the Galaxy S25 Edge’s battery life during an interview

He said that people shouldn’t focus on hardware specs but the experience a phone offers. He claims that the phone will still last all day for most users, despite the fact its battery capacity has been cut to make the phone thinner.

Gaiser said that Samsung’s internal testing shows that the Galaxy S25 Edge lasts from “sun up to sun down” without needing a charge boost. He said that the phone lasts longer than the Galaxy S24. While that may be true, that’s not exactly a compliment for the Galaxy S25 Edge, as the Galaxy S24 didn’t have impressive battery life.

Either way, Samsung seems to think the battery life the Galaxy S25 Edge offers is good enough for most users. Gaiser also said that he didn’t have a major issue with the phone’s battery life.

If only the company used a silicon-carbon battery

Samsung could have had the best of both worlds if it used a silicon-carbon battery. That would allow the company to keep the current size, but offer more capacity. That’s what many Chinese smartphone OEMs have been doing.

The company opted not to do it, which resulted in the Galaxy S25 Edge being stuck with a rather tiny battery. It has a smaller battery than the Galaxy S25, which is a lot smaller smartphone with a considerably smaller display.

Its battery capacity could be one of the reasons why the Galaxy S25 Edge is not selling all that well. Well, that’s what a recent report claims, at least.
