Galaxy S25 Gets October 2025 Patch as First Post-One UI 8 Update
by Jean Leon · Android HeadlinesAs is typical for flagship phones, the Galaxy S25 series was the first to get One UI 8. The company has also been expanding the firmware’s availability to more Galaxy phones. Now, the Galaxy S25 lineup is getting its first post-One UI 8.0 update (based on Android 16). Primarily, this OTA brings the security patch for the month of October 2025.
Owners of the international variants of the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+, and Galaxy S25 Ultra can now grab this release. However, users of the recently announced Galaxy S25 FE will have to wait a little longer.
Samsung Galaxy S25 series receives October security patch
What does this update actually fix? While not a feature release, it’s critical for safety. The October 2025 patch bundles fixes for around three dozen vulnerabilities. This number combines patches from Google’s Android OS and Samsung‘s own software, tackling high-severity flaws specific to Galaxy devices. The security team focused on patching vulnerabilities related to critical components like the fingerprint trustlet, Samsung DeX, Knox security features, and even Galaxy Watch storage issues. Essentially, this patch plugs the security holes that bad actors might exploit.
The rollout has currently started in specific regions in Asia, including Thailand. The update package weighs over 560MB and carries the firmware version S93xBXXS6BYIF. Users in other global markets should expect to see the notification arrive on their devices in the coming hours and days.
You can easily check if your Galaxy S25 has received the patch. Just open your Settings app, scroll to Software update, and select Download and install.
With the October security update out of the way, Samsung’s focus will shift to its next major software initiative: the development of One UI 8.5. Early reports suggest this version will bring new features and visual tweaks. This firmware will likely debut alongside the Galaxy S26 series in early 2026. For now, users can rest easy knowing the biggest security risks have been addressed.
