[UPDATED] Galaxy S22 Series Gets Its Final Major Android Update — One UI 8.0 Is Rolling Out Now
by Kristijan Lucic · Android HeadlinesORIGINAL ARTICLE: The Samsung Galaxy S22 series is now getting the Android 16-based One UI 8.0 update. After quite a few devices have already received the update, it’s time for the company’s flagships from 2022. Just to be clear, we’re talking about the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, and Galaxy S22 Ultra here.
The Samsung Galaxy S22 series is now getting its last major Android OS update, One UI 8
The update has started to roll out in Europe, and it weighs around 3.17GB. It comes with a firmware version S90xBXXUIGYI7. Other regions will get the update shortly, as it usually takes Samsung only days to push it to various other parts of the world.
Once it arrives to your market, however, it doesn’t mean you’ll get it straight away. It is a staged rollout, as these updates usually are. So there’s a good chance you’ll have to wait a bit longer.
Another thing worth noting is that this is the fourth and final major Android OS update for the Galaxy S22 series. That’s what Samsung promised when these devices were announced. Yes, One UI 8.5 will also become available at some point next year, but not Android 17-based One UI 9.
So, what’s a part of this update? You can expect a standard set of One UI 8.0 changes here, the same ones we’ve seen on other devices. No details were shared by the source, but that’s what you’ll be getting.
Samsung’s One UI 8 changes are included, on top of what Google offered in Android 16
In other words, Android 16 changes by Google are included, along with One UI 8.0 changes from Samsung. Now Brief will be a part of this update, while this update also delivers a redesigned Samsung Internet browser.
Samsung also revamped Quick Share in One UI 8, and brought some new changes to the lock screen. Split screen receives a boot with this update, as does Samsung’s Secure Folder and DeX as well.
