Apple Promises to Fix iPhone 17 Pro Rare Camera Glitch With a Future Update

by · Android Headlines

The iPhone 17 series is just a day away from hitting store shelves. This year, even the base model should be of great interest thanks to the inclusion of the 120Hz ProMotion display. This narrows the gap between the Pro models. Early reports indicate that there’s a weird camera glitch with the iPhone Air and iPhone 17 Pro in certain scenarios. However, Apple promises a fix is on its way.

iPhone 17 Pro camera glitch is causing blackout portions

The iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone Air camera glitch is causing “blackout sections, including boxes and white squiggles” on some photos taken during a concert, as pointed out by Henry Casey at CNN. The camera glitch affected 1 in 10 snaps taken by Casey. It isn’t clear if the problem is affecting the base iPhone 17 as well.

An Apple spokesperson reportedly acknowledged it and said that this “can happen in very rare cases when an LED light display is extremely bright and shining directly into the camera.” Though it hasn’t said what’s causing the glitch, it apparently found a fix. It’ll address the camera glitch in an “upcoming software update.” However, there’s no exact timeline for it yet.

A fix is on the way, but there is no specific timeline yet

There are theories that the iPhone 17 Pro camera glitch could be because of the way iPhones take multiple exposures and combine them into one. This is now a standard practice where the best parts of each snap are combined to produce a single perfect photo. In this case, there seem to be some inconsistencies with the image processing.

The new iPhones won’t be on sale until September 19th, i.e., tomorrow. We may see a day-one update fixing the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone Air camera issue.
