An Garda Síochána have revealed that fines and penalty points issued to motorists driving on the N17 in Mayo over a nearly eight week period from December to February are being revoked

Some 1,871 were issued between 20 December 2024 and 12 February and will now be revoked due to the error.

In 123 cases where the fines were paid, gardaí said they will issue refunds.

Gardai have begun writing to each individual affected by the error and refunds will be issued, with penalty points removed where necessary
