Chelsea’s new owners promise major trophies after Boehly exit

Clearlake Capital has assumed full control of the club after co-controlling owners Behdad Eghbali and José E. Feliciano bought out the combined 25.6 per cent stakes previously held by Boehly and Walter.
Boehly has also stepped down as Chelsea chairman following the ownership shake-up.
In a statement released on Thursday after taking full control, the new ownership group thanked the departing partners for their contributions and said Chelsea was moving forward with “a shared sense of purpose, clear direction and confidence in what comes next.”
The owners said: “Our ambition is clear: to compete at the highest level, to win major trophies, and to build sustained success.”
The ownership group also stated that “success on the pitch will always be our first priority”, with the Premier League title and major European honours among its targets.
The new owners pledged to strengthen Chelsea commercially to support continued investment in the playing squad, while also committing to long-term solutions for the club’s stadium and training ground infrastructure.
They also stressed the importance of Chelsea supporters, describing them as “the heart of this Club” and its “true custodians for over 120 years.”

The ownership group added: “While we hold the responsibility of ownership, this will always be your Club.”
Despite Boehly’s departure, day-to-day operations and the club’s current sporting directors are expected to remain in place as the new ownership structure seeks continuity while pursuing its stated ambitions.
