Jury deliberations in Sean “Diddy” Combs’s sex-trafficking trial hit a snag just an hour after starting on Monday, when the foreperson sent a note to the judge saying, “We have a juror … who we are concerned can’t follow your honor’s instructions.” The note, sent to Judge Arun Subramanian around 12:30 p.m., requested the jurist say something to this person. Subramanian decided to respond with a note reminding jurors of their duty to deliberate and to follow his instructions.

The jury started weighing Diddy’s case at 11:30 a.m. Prior to that, Subramanian gave them his instructions on the law. This lasted about two and a half hours.

Diddy, wearing a cappuccino-color sweater, seemed in good spirits as the jury weighed his fate. His family and other supporters authorized to sit in the two rows behind him joined him in an apparent prayer after the jury left to deliberate. Diddy faced his supporters and dipped his head in meditation their way. After several moments, they clapped. Diddy lifted his head and then stretched.

Around 2 p.m., Diddy whispered to two supporters seated in the well. “Just get me out of here,” he told them with a smile. Diddy had an AirPod headphone in his right ear for several moments on at least two occasions and had carried two paperback books into court this morning. Perhaps aware of how much interest his reading habits have generated, Diddy held them up to face the gallery, showing attendees the titles before leaving the courtroom just after 2 p.m. One was The Power of Positive Thinking; the other was The Happiness Advantage. Deliberations are ongoing.
