CBM plans January 2026 loans disbursement for rehabilitation of earthquake-affected areas

The Central Committee for the Supervision of the Fund for the Rehabilitation of Areas Affected by the Powerful Mandalay Earthquake (4/2025) held its 4th meeting on December 23 at the Central Bank of Myanmar in Nay Pyi Taw.
The meeting was attended by Daw Than Than Swe, Governor of the Central Committee for the Supervision of the Fund, and members from the Ministry of Finance and Revenue, Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation, Ministry of Cooperatives and Rural Development, Ministry of Industry, Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Construction, National Disaster Management Committee, and the Office of the Auditor General of the Union.
The CBM Governor delivered an opening speech at the meeting, and the members discussed the needs of the loans submitted by the Fund Management Working Group, ensuring that the earthquake loans are in accordance with the SOP and the types of land that should be accepted as collateral were determined based on the comments of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation, the Ministry of Construction and the Office of the Auditor General of the Union.
In addition, the supporting staff members carefully examined the requirements for banks and non-bank financial institutions to provide loans in January 2026, discussed the maximum loan amount that can be provided for each loan, and instructed the central committee members to ensure a better loan screening framework.
