Liam Payne, the British singer and former One Direction member, has died. Payne passed away today after falling from his balcony on the third floor of the CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aries, ABC News reports. Payne was 31.

In 2015, the One Direction fever hit South Africa as the group performed there. According to a preliminary autopsy report, Payne died of “multiple trauma” and “internal and external hemorrhage,” as the result of the fall from the balcony of a third-floor room at the hotel on Wednesday (Oct. 16).
