Andhra CM Chandrababu Naidu's younger brother Ramamurthy Naidu dies at 72 after prolonged illness
Ramamurthy Naidu had been battling health issues for an extended period before his passing on Thursday. He was under treatment but succumbed to his illness, leaving a void in the Nara family.
by Edited By: Nitin Kumar · India TVN Ramamurthy Naidu, former TDP MLA and younger brother of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, died at a private specialist hospital on Saturday. He was 72 years old. According to the hospital report, Ramamurthy Naidu was hospitalised on November 14 after suffering cardiac arrest. Despite receiving a heart and lung transplant, he remained extremely unstable due to complications such as the development of hypertension. He died at 12:45 pm due to respiratory problems and health issues such as "non-communicating normal pressure hydrocephalus."
He was on intermittent ventilation for breathing problems, the hospital said. Despite her best medical efforts, his condition did not improve. The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and his family are mourning the loss of the senior leader.
Funeral arrangements
The funeral will be held on Saturday, November 17, at his native Naravaripalli village.
Political career
Ramamurthy Naidu was elected to the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly in 1994, representing the Chandragiri constituency as a member of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP). He was the father of actor and filmmaker Nara Rohit.
Condolences from Leaders
Chandrababu Naidu shared his grief on social media, saying, "With a heavy heart, I inform everyone that my brother, former Chandragiri MLA Nara Rammurthy Naidu, has left us. His departure has filled our family with immense sorrow."
Telangana CM K. Revanth Reddy also expressed his condolences, praying for the soul of Ramamurthy Naidu to rest in peace. Nara Lokesh, the son of Chandrababu Naidu, remembered his uncle fondly, calling him a pillar of strength in their lives.

Chandrababu Naidu shared his condolences on social media and said, "With a heavy heart, I inform everyone that my brother, former Chandragiri MLA Nara Rammurthy Naidu, has left us. Rammurthy Naidu was a leader who served the people with a pure heart in public life. His departure has filled our family with immense sorrow. I pray that his soul will find peace."
Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy also expressed his condolences and prayed for the peace of Ramamurthy Naidu's soul.
"The death of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu's brother, former MLA Nara Rammurthy Naidu, is deeply shocking. Praying to God for his soul to rest in peace, I extend my heartfelt condolences to his family members."
Nara Lokesh, son of Chandrababu Naidu, fondly remembered his uncle as a pillar of strength in their lives.
He tweeted, "Memories of my childhood bond with him come flooding back, bringing tears to my eyes as I pay tribute to him. My uncle, who was a pillar of visible strength for us all these years, will now remain an everlasting memory. I pray to God for his soul to rest in peace. I urge everyone to stay strong during this time of profound sadness."
