Myanmar President Meets Indian President Droupadi Murmu During Official Visit to India

Myanmar President U Min Aung Hlaing, who is currently on an official visit to India, met with Indian President Smt. Droupadi Murmu at the reception hall of the Rashtrapati Bhavan (Presidential Palace) on the evening of June 1.

The meeting took place at the Rashtrapati Bhavan during President U Min Aung Hlaing’s official visit to India, which is being made at the invitation of Indian Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.

During the discussions, the two leaders exchanged views on Myanmar’s political developments and India’s full support for the current elected government’s efforts toward national development. They also discussed the timely completion of ongoing bilateral cooperation projects, measures to further expand trade and investment between the two countries, and efforts to preserve and promote shared cultural heritage and tourism.

In addition, the leaders discussed the longstanding friendship and close ties between Myanmar and India, opportunities to share experiences in promoting the role of women, and ways to further strengthen bilateral friendship and cooperation.

Following the meeting, President U Min Aung Hlaing signed the guest book at the Rashtrapati Bhavan.

The meeting was attended by Union Ministers U Khine Maung Yi, U Tin Maung Swe, Dr. Kan Zaw, U Min Naung, and Dr. Charlie Than, members of the Myanmar delegation, and Myanmar’s Ambassador to India. Also present were members of the Indian government, India’s Ambassador to Myanmar Shri Abhay Thakur, and other officials accompanying President Droupadi Murmu.
