The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has demanded government accommodation for its national convenor Arvind Kejriwal, who resigned from the post of Delhi Chief Minister recently.

AAP leader Raghav Chaddha on Friday said that according to the rules laid down by the Election Commission of India, Arvind Kejriwal should be given government accommodation.

"Under the rules of the Election Commission, any national party is given two resources. The first of which is the national office. Apart from this, the national convenor of a national level party is also given a government residence. Therefore, we demand from the central government that Arvind Kejriwal should get a government residence", Raghav Chadha said.

Before becoming Delhi's Chief Minister for the first time in December 2013, Kejriwal lived in Ghaziabad's Kaushambi area.

As the Chief Minister, Kejriwal stayed in a house in Tilak Lane in central Delhi and after the AAP rose to power with a landslide victory in the 2015 Assembly elections, he moved to a house at 6, Flagstaff Road in the Civil Lines area of north Delhi.

Arvind Kejriwal will vacate his official residence in a few weeks and will also give up all government facilities.

On Tuesday, September 17, Arvind Kejriwal resigned from the Delhi Chief Minister's post days after he was granted bail by the Supreme Court in the alleged liquor policy case.
