The end of President Joe Biden’s administration also marks the beginning of a new relationship between the U.S. and the African continent, according to the president. VOA White House correspondent Anita Powell reports from Luanda, Angola, where Biden is making a historic visit.

In becoming the first American leader to visit Angola, President Biden said it was important not to forget the ugly legacy of the human trade that originally defined relations with Africa.

The long-promised trip to the continent will see Biden tout American investment in Angola and visit a slavery museum.

President Joe Biden is finding ways to celebrate trains in the waning days of his presidency thousands of miles from home.

In Angola, Biden will announce new developments on health, agribusiness, security cooperation as well as the Lobito Corridor, White House officials said.
